An Ode to PBS Kids

Thank you for Odd Squad,

For providing entertainment that’s far more educational than Spongebob.

For teaching my kids about Venn Diagrams and negative numbers,

And for and instilling a love of math, and critical thinking, and wonder.

Thank you for Wild Kratts,

For teaching my kids about Meadow Voles and Egyptian fruit bats.

For instilling interest in animals and their unique lives and habitats,

And for providing a view outside our living room and an interest in the planet.

Thank you for Design Squad,

For practical knowledge like a square is not as stable for structure as a tripod.

For teaching the processes of designing, and prototyping, and testing,

And for showing my kids they are capable of solving, and trying, and investigating.

Thank you, PBS Kids, for reducing my guilt of excessive screen time.

For expanding minds and inspiring their minds,

And for providing quite time to focus on what I need to do.

…For what its’ worth, we could do without Caillou.

With Curiosity, Lauren.
