You’ve heard the story of Three Little Pigs, yes? If not, here are the highlights: Momma pig sets her three little pigs out into the world to seek their fortunes. They each build a house with varying levels of fortitude ranging from terrible (straw) to sturdy (brick & mortar.) After the wolf huffs and puffs, he blows down the first two piglet’s homes sending those little bacon bits running for safety at the third piggie’s house. The third piggie welcomes them in with open arms. Not only does her house hold up to the bad breaths of the wolf but she outwits him as he heads down the chimney by preparing the fireplace below. The three little piglets feast on the beast and the story ends. (Perhaps they even take a victory lap squealing, “Wee, wee, wee all the way home.”)
This blog is all about sharing the stories of parents and caregivers who emulate that Third Piggie and the lessons we teach our “piglets” to inspire that level of strength, hard work and responsibility as they grow.
